In the week between Ascension day and Pentecost, we are joining with the whole Church of England in praying for our church, our community, our nation, and our world, as a part of Thy Kingdom Come.

One thing we are doing this week is Praying For Five. This involves committing to pray for five friends or family members who don’t yet know Jesus everyday this week. To help you remember to pray, you might want to stick their names on a cupboard or mirror, or tie five knots in a piece of string and use it as a bookmark.

Alongside this and to help us pray more widely, we have created some guided prayer prayer walks which you can find on our Soundcloud. These link to our themes of prayer each day, which are…

Monday 25th May – Praying for your local community, neighbours, schools, businesses, Churches. (Romans 12:5)

Tuesday 26th May – Praying for those who are vulnerable, or suffering abuse; let us pray for justice and help to come. Our prayer walk is based around the theme of refuge and hiding. (Psalm 91:1-2)

Wednesday 27th May –Prayer for hospitality to become a marker by which Christians are known, helping the homeless and those in need. (Psalm 84:1-12)

Thursday 28th May – Praying for those in poverty, both physical and spiritual. (Psalm 23, John 4:10, Isaiah 41:18)

Friday 29th May – Our prayer is for reconciliation and peace in our world, in our communities and in our lives. (John 14:6, 1 Timothy 6:19, 2 Corinthians 5:11-21)

Saturday 30th May – Pray for our world, for our environment, for climate change and pollution levels to decrease Pray for slavery to end and wars to cease. May care for the other mark out our lives. (Psalm 18, 118)

Pentecost Sunday – We pray for the Holy Spirit to be poured out into our church and into our world, that God’s name may be glorified. (Acts 2)

We would love for you to join with us in pray, to see God’s Kingdom come and his will be done here on earth, in our time.
