Already we are a few weeks into 2021 and although the start of this year may not have been all we had hoped for we have a few exciting updates of events coming up and news from the church

We’ve got a church social on Saturday 30th January, which is a ‘Pick & Mix’ event where there are lots of slots throughout the evening people can drop in and out of – virtually! It will all be hosted on Zoom with a main room for chatting and drinks and breakout rooms for different events such as a HIIT workout, a baking class, a quiz, bingo, along with general drinks in the main room! The event will run from 6-9pm, the timings for specific events are below

HIIT Workout
Kids games room

Pub Quiz
Baking Class
Youth and older kids games room

Please contact Lauren for the Zoom details

Additionally, on Sunday 31st January at 2pm, we’re hosting a Newcomer’s zoom call for anyone who has joined the church since March (since lockdown began). It’ll be with the church’s staff team, and be an opportunity to get to know others within the church community and feel connected. For the Zoom link, please email any of our staff team who will gladly give you the details

Lastly but excitingly, we are pleased to say that the process for finding a new vicar is now underway. The PCC have met with the Bishop of Southampton and have begun writing our parish profile. As much as we’d love your prayers, we also want to involve the whole church in part of this process.

Specifically, we’d love to gather your thoughts and excitement around what God is doing at Ascension. If you would like to, we’d love you to answer the following two questions and let a member of the PCC know

– What three things do you value most about our church today?
– Considering what the church is doing now, what do you believe God may have done in our community in two or three years time?

If you are unsure who to send your responses to please email them to the Church Office. These will be used to guide the process of finding someone to lead our church into its next season and follow where the Holy Spirit is guiding us
