For week 3 of the Just Consuming Lent 2017 challenge, we are asking people to donate generously to our local basics bank. For those of you who don’t know on a Wednesday in the Old Chemist on the Triangle a team run a basics bank.
Every week, the lovely people who work there see over 30 people come in to collect food packages. There are people in our community who rely on the basics bank to get good meals for the week. Sadly, the food banks often struggle with getting enough food and household products in store to distribute to people. We can help with that.
For those of you who need inspiration of what to buy, the food bank team have told me that the items they would really appreciate at the moment are:
- Tinned meat
- Tinned rice pudding/custard
- Pet food
- Sanitary towels
- Loo rolls
So can you add an extra item to your shopping list this week? Drop it in our buckets at church, or take it to the Old Chemist.
