Trip to Uganda, February 24 – March 14 2019
On Sunday, we sent the team of seven off with prayers for a safe journey and fruitful time. You probably read Peter’s February letter which explains that the team will not only be visiting Naminage our sister church and community, but also be working alongside Richard Rukundo (National Church Co-ordinator for Children and youth) who visited us a few weeks ago.
The basic outline is for them to be in Jinja Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27; in Naminage Thursday 28– Sunday 3 March; back to Jinja on Sunday 3 until Tuesday 5 March. Alex and Ruth then leave to return to the UK, whilst the remaining five will participate in training workshops, preach and undertake various visits.
You are invited to support them in prayer on a daily basis, and there are also opportunities to do so with others in the Worship Space at Ascension at the following times:
- Mondays, as part of Morning Prayer: 9.00am March 4 and 11.
- Wednesdays as part of communion service: 9.30am Feb 27, March 6 and 13.
- Saturday 2 March, 9.00-9.20am
- Friday 8 March, 5.30-5.50pm
General prayer points are for good health, stamina and Christ’s presence to guide their words and actions.
The cafe will be serving pancakes on Tuesday 5 March – come and join in the fun from 10.00am to 2pm.
The 9.30am service on Wed 6 March will include Imposition of Ashes – join us for this special service as we start Lent.
Our 2019 APCM is on 7 April 2019 after the 10.45am service. Please put the date in your diary and come along to hear about what the church has been doing this year.
The electoral roll is being completely revised this year – if you’re a member of the church, you need to complete a new electoral roll form. Being on the electoral roll allows you to vote at our APCM and gives an indication of the real membership and strength of the church. So please do sign up!
Forms can be obtained from Frances Samphire or the Office and need to be submitted no later than
16 March 2019. The information is being stored on ChurchSuite, our database. If you’re not on ChurchSuite, you’ll need to be added, and sign on of our data processing forms in addition to the electoral roll form. Frances or the office will be able to help with this.
