We hope you’ve had a restful bank holiday weekend and have been enjoying the recent good weather. Here’s what’s happening this month…

Every Tuesday (in term time) we’re gathering from 12.30-1.00pm in the worship space to pray together. We know there are deep needs within our community, in Bitterne Park and in our world and we want to offer these to God through prayer. Come and join us for as long or as little as you like.

Evening service

Join us on 8 May for our monthly prayer and worship service at 6.00pm. All are welcome, we’d love to see you there.

New staff

A very big welcome to Anna Gordon who has joined the staff team as our parish administrator! We’re also very excited to welcome Lizzie Fewtrell to the team next month as she takes on the role of our Operations Co-ordinator. You may recognise both Anna and Lizzie as they both have served Ascension in lots of ways already through being part of the church family – but especially if you’ve been involved with the Ascension Running Community!

Wellbeing Café

Starting 11 May and happening every 2nd Wednesday of the month, from 1-3pm we’re hosting a well-being café. The Wellbeing Café is a community space where you can come and relax, chat, have a drink, do some crafts and take some time out. You can also take the opportunity to connect with our partners from various community groups, including Mind and Social Prescribers from the NHS Living Well Partnership. For more information, email office@ascensionsouthampton.co.uk or call 023 8055 9074.

Over 60s at Ascension

On Saturday 14 May, from 2.00-4.30pm at church, we’re hosting an afternoon of tea, cake and chat in the Grace Hall. If you’re over 60, come along and join us! For more info, contact Jackie Cooper on 07527 246525.

Annual Church Meeting and Baked Potato Sunday – 22 May

On Sunday 22 May we’re holding our Annual Church Meeting (sounds exciting, right?!), which will take place alongside Baked Potato Sunday! It’s a chance to hear what God has been doing in our church (alongside a few legal bits), and eat together as a church family. Bring a potato and your favourite topping, and we’ll see you there!

Jubilee Celebrations

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we’re hosting a big party! On Sunday 5 June, join us at 4.00pm in Townhill Park outside the community centre where we’ll be celebrating, partying and eating delicious food!
