Study theology in Southampton
In partnership with St Mellitus College
For the fourth year running, starting September 2018, we will be streaming weekly teaching from St Mellitus College, one of the most exciting and innovative centres of theological study and training for missional leadership in the UK today. Based at Ascension Church, and run in partnership with CEMES Southampton, we will be streaming a selection of lectures from modules on the St Mellitus BA course in ‘Theology, Ministry & Mission’. By offering this course locally, unassessed and as inexpensively as possible, we hope to make this high-quality training (delivered by a wide range of world-class scholars and first-rate practitioners) to anyone who wants to explore their faith, stretch their mind, and expand their heart.
Teaching will take place on Tuesday evenings at 7pm during term time, with refreshments available from 6:45pm. All sessions will begin with a time of prayer and worship, and include regular refreshment breaks. The evening should finish around 9:30pm.
There will be no teaching on half term and bank holiday Monday weeks.
25 September to 4 December, half term week commencing 23 October
15 January to 2 April, half term week commencing 19 February
30 April to 9 July, half term week commencing 28 May
The course costs £399 for the full year, including lectures from modules on ‘Foundations for Theology & Reflective Practice’ an ‘Introduction to the Bible’ and Christian Faith and Ethical Living.
To reserve your place on the course, you will need to fill in the form at the bottom of this page and send us a non-refundable deposit of £99 (cheques should be made payable to ‘Bitterne Park Parish’ and sent to us at Ascension Church, 1 Thorold Road, Bitterne Park, Southampton, SO18 1HZ – please remember to write your name clearly on the back).
The remainder of the cost is payable by cheque in two instalments of £150 each, due on the first day of the Autumn and Spring terms.
