February is here and we have so much going on at Ascension to share with you this month!
We are recruiting!
Here at Ascension, we are so honoured to have one-third of our congregation made up of under-18’s – we are passionate about what these young people offer to the life of the church and our wider community. With this in mind, we are excited to announce that we are recruiting an Assistant Youth and Children’s worker to work alongside Jo here at Ascension and Ruth in Townhill to help us to continue to grow our kids and youth work in the area. If you would like to find out more about the role or how to apply, details can be found on our website.
New Wine
We are so excited that so many of you have signed up to join us for week A ( 26 July – Sunday 30 July 2023) at New Wine this year. If you haven’t signed up yet, then there is still time! Link is here.
We have a handful of families who would love to come but are not in a position to fully fund their places. We would love to be able, as a church, to support these families to come and experience New Wine with us this year. We have set up a fund to support these families. If you would like to make a financial contribution towards this then you can do so via our website. Please select the “New Wine Support Fund 2023” option on the donate page so we can be sure your contribution is allocated appropriately.
Welcome to our newcomers
We are always happy to see new faces here at Ascension. If you are new here then we would love to invite you to couple of things:
Newcomers meal – here at Ascension, we love to share meals together – we think this is a great way to get to know one another better. If you are new here at Ascension, then we would love to invite you to a welcome meal on Sunday 26rd February. No need to bring anything, but we do ask that you sign up here so we know how many to cater for.
Get involved – here at Ascension, we believe that the best way to feel part of a church family is to get stuck in! if you would like to feel more involved here at Ascension, please get in touch with Lizi (lizi@ascensionsouthampton.co.uk) – from serving coffee on a Sunday morning to gardening mid-week – we have lots of ways that you can feel at home here.
Don’t forget your mug!
Those of you who have been with us the last couple of Sundays will be aware that we are switching to a “bring your own mug” system – this has already really helped our hospitality team with the clear up after the service, so thank you to all of you who bring a mug with you each week!
Finally, there is so much going on in the world right now. So much of it is confusing and unsettling. We are called to keep our eyes on Jesus, the one who calms the storms and the one who has overcome death. So let us focus on
8 … whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
