Autumn is here! As the nights draw in and the leaves turn golden brown, we welcome you to our latest Newsletter. We have a busy month ahead and some exciting changes to our staff team.
Light Party
We are very excited to welcome you to our Light Party: A Land of Snow and Ice. Come dressed as your favourite Frozen, Ice Age or Narnia characters. There will be fun, games, prizes, craft & food . The event is open to any child (with an adult) as a Halloween alternative on Thursday 31st October from 4-6pm, tickets are available to buy on our website. We still need donations of artificial Christmas Trees and polyester duvets as well as volunteers to set-up, have fun, and clear up afterwards—please talk to Jo or Luke.
Welcome to our New Ordinands and Goodbye to Charlie
We are pleased to announce we have three new Ordinands joining us here at Ascension: Bev Price, Lucy Hoyes and Andy Milligan. We pray for them and their families as they start their training and join the staff team here at Ascension. Charlie Gibbs will be sadly leaving us as he continues his next stage of ordinand training at St. James, West End. Please do join us for coffee and cake at 10am on Sunday 20th October as we say goodbye to Charlie.
New Parish Administrator
It was a sad day when Anna left after doing such a wonderful job holding everything together on the Admin side. But we are pleased to announce that Tim Nutt has picked up the baton as our new Parish Administrator and is getting stuck in to all the fun tasks.
Newcomers’ Meal
If you are new to Ascension or have just visited a few times, we would love to invite you to come and share a meal with us after the 10.45 am service on Sunday 20th October. The meal will be an opportunity to get to know each other and find out more about what goes on at Ascension. GrACE Group Guided Walk
Our GrACE group are planning a guided walk around Chessel Bay Nature Reserve on Sunday October 20th, 3pm. Meet at Bitterne Station car park and come and explore the edges of our parish with us.
Wildfires Festival 2025
Ascension will be camping at the Wildfires Festival in July 2025. This is a three day festival at the Wiston Estate, West Sussex. It was launched in 2018 as a joint adventure between 24-7 Prayer, Worship Central, Bible Society, Pioneer, Fusion, Big Church Festival and Tearfund.
