Marketplace at Ascension
We’re so pleased to be the new venue for the SCM Townhill Marketplace which will open its doors on Thursday 8th May. We would love to be able to support this initiative as a community here at Ascension. If you are interested in joining the team and helping on a Wednesday or Thursday morning, please do contact the Parish Office. We would also love to offer homemade cakes for the Marketplace visitors each week. If you would be happy to be on a rota for this, please do get in touch with lizi@ascensionsouthampton.co.uk
Quiz & Chips – ASCY takeover
Our amazing Youth Group are organising a Quiz & Chips Night to raise money for the local charity Safe Families on Tuesday May 13th at 7pm. Teams will be made on the night and if it’s anything like the last Quiz Night it’s going to be brilliant fun. Tickets are just £10 and include a fish and chip supper. Please signup via the website or contact the Parish Office. There will also be a Raffle on the night itself, so if you have anything you can donate as a prize for this, that would be wonderful—new items only please.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM)
Our APCM is set for Sunday 18th May at 12:15. Please come along to hear an overview of the parish’s activities and finances for the last year. Also, if you are on the Electoral Roll, you can vote at the election of members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and Deanery Synod. An agenda and our Annual Report will be sent out to you shortly in a separate e-mail.
Wildfires Festival
We are off to Wildfires, a three-day festival at the Wiston Estate, West Sussex from 24th – 27th July. If you would like to join us, you can book tickets at https://wildfiresfestival.com. For those that have already booked, please email the office or Simon to let us know you are coming.
YouthFest
YouthFest is a weekend of fun, games, food, and incredible teaching and worship taking place from 20-22nd June. Young people from churches across the city are invited and you can sign up here or get in touch with Luke to find out more. If the cost of the weekend is an issue, or you would like to sponsor a young persons place, please contact us on office@ascensionsouthampton.co.uk. Bookings close on the 23rd May so do get your tickets now if you would like to join.
Ascension Heart & Soul
Our Heart & Soul Group is an opportunity for members of our community to get together on a weekly basis on Thursdays 2-4pm, to build and grow relationships so that we can support and encourage each other. This is a social group and will include conversation, games, and other activities along with refreshments. We would love to see you there.
Family Rocket Day
We have an exciting Save-The-Date for you! On the first Sunday in July (6th), in place of our monthly Big Church Lunch, we will be holding a Rocket Day and picnic at Wilverley Plain in New Milton. More details to follow next month, but please do save the date in your diary as we would love as many of our church family to be there as possible.

Evening Services Every Sunday 7pm-8:30pm
Our evening service this term will follow a series based on the book “Praying like monks, Living like fools” by Tyler Staton
Tuesday Prayers Every Tuesday 12:30-1:00pm
We meet in the Ascension worship space during the term-time to pray for our church and community.
Morning Prayer Every Wednesday 6:30-7:30am
A time of morning prayer and worship for our city. Hosted by Ascension but open to all.
Ascension Ladies Group 2nd May: Spring time Quiz
16th May Flexercise (easy exercise to music)
Dad’s Lego Breakfast – Saturday 3rd May 10am-12pm
£1 entry per person. Includes bacon roll, tea, coffee and juice for the kids. All dads and primary school kids welcome.
Big Church Lunch – Sunday 4th May 12:30pm (in Riverside Park if it’s sunny)
Bring your own food and drink and join us from 12:30pm, all are welcome.
Men’s Breakfast – Saturday 17th May, 8.30-10am
A breakfast social for the men from our church and community. Tickets £5 via our website.
Breakfast Club at the Hub – Saturday 31st May 10am-12noon
A breakfast social based at the EDGE Hub (123 Meggeson Ave)
