Welcome to our June Newsletter which is packed full of exciting updates and events!
Quiz & Chips Youth Takeover Success
The Quiz & Chips charity fundraising evening in May was a huge success, we raised £575 for Safe Families UK. Many thanks to all of you who came along for the evening and a special thanks to the team of youth who hosted, served and cleared up after the event.
New Curate at Ascension
We are very excited to welcome James and Hannah to Ascension next month. James will start as our new curate from the beginning of July. To welcome them to the church family, we will be holding a Bring & Share Lunch at Ascension on Sunday 6th July at 12:30. Please bring some food to share and join us as we welcome James and Hannah. We have organised a PotLuck page to co-ordinate what we all bring to this – please do have a look at this and let us know what delicious food you plan to bring to share. (Please note, the Rocket Day has now moved to Sept to accommodate this meal). Please do remember James and Hannah in your prayers this month as they settle into their new home here in Southampton and for James as he prepares for his Ordination at Winchester Cathedral at the end of this month.
Evening Services June Update
On the 8th June we will start a new series at our 7pm service: ‘Be Still’ by Brian Heasley from 24/7 prayer. Find out more about what to expect from the serries here. If you haven’t been to one of these evenings then we would love to invite you along this Sunday at 7pm. Then on the 29th June our usual 7pm service will be replaced by an evening of extended Prayer and Worship in conjunction with City Life Church – all very welcome.
Ascension Heart & Soul:
Due to low take up we have decided to pause Heart & Soul on Thursday afternoons. We do still have plenty of other opportunities for social meet ups during the week here in our café space, including a drop in café run by the NHS Social Prescribers on Tuesdays from 1.30-4pm and the Marketplace Community Café on Thursday from 10am-12noon, both of which are open to all. We are also planning to run an Omega Course in September. Omega is a five-session course helping older people face some of the key issues which come later in life. Look out for more information about this over the Summer.
YouthFest
YouthFest is a weekend of fun, games, food, and incredible teaching and worship for youth across the city (20-22nd June). Bookings are now closed, but please do pray for the event. We are also in need of more team to make the weekend safe and successful, if you have any time to spare on 21st, 22nd or 23rd June, please do consider helping out at this amazing event. Get in touch with Luke to find out more about how you can get involved. luke@ascensionsouthampton.co.uk

God Bless,
